Hey There STUD!

Posted by Brook Brewer on

I’ve always had a love for accessories. Always!! Give me jeans and a T-shirt, add some accessories and I’m out the door! There’s been times where I planned my outfit around my earrings. No lie. I love a good statement piece. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined my love for earrings would lead me to where I am now.

I love bringing awareness to our community. Although we do not live on a base, there are families all over the country going through the same situations. We kiss our loved ones goodbye while they train for months at a time, we kiss them goodbye as they leave for monthly drills, we kiss them goodbye as they leave for a deployment. It’s that last kiss that’s always a kiss of I miss you already. No matter how many kisses you go through, they still sting the same.

To give back to the selflessness of our heroes, I wanted to create an earring for a Veterans Day Event we were having at a local boutique. Our first thought was camo. Camo is in!! I mean I personally think camo is always in. Looks pretty fantastic on my husband. Wink! Wink! I collaborated with a local business owner who makes homemade earrings. Her attention to detail and her creativity just amazes me. This was a project that I just could not wait to start. She sent some camo samples that I loved! Like anything you’re excited about, I could not wait to show my loving, caring, and sexy husband. (He pretty much wrote that.) Keep him in the loop and hear him say “that’s awesome”. After him looking at them and really liking the material, he said what would you think about using one of my uniforms? I messaged CeCe immediately. What is more authentic than real camo worn in a war?! I mean can you really get more badass than that? After testing out some different sizes and shapes of teardrops, the studs were the only thing that were working. I always say things happen for a reason and that reason was because they were meant to be studs. Studs worn by my stud!

We were able to raise over $1,200 for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing at our Trendy Honors Veterans event.

Each uniform tells a different story but every single one is a symbol of freedom and strength. I don’t know about you but I certainly get chills when thinking of the significance. The pride these men and women have while having this uniform on. The selflessness, their call to duty, the need to fight for something other than themselves, their sacrifices. They know when they sign on the dotted line that they’re putting their lives on the line to defend us. Think about that. That really does call for a special person. A hero.

Every single night I went to bed wearing one of my husbands T-shirt’s and slept on his side of the bed. You do anything to make you feel close to them. I honestly wish I had these earrings during his deployments. To be able to wear something and feel the material is something that brings you comfort. Feeling like your other half is still with you. It makes it seem like they’re not so far away. You spend a whole deployment communicating via emails mostly. Going days to sometimes weeks without talking while they’re on missions is unbearable at times. To be able to have a piece of them with you while they’re a half a world away is just amazing. It makes your heart whole again. I can’t think of a better way to display your pride for those fighting for you.

Xoxo
